The use of colour is critical to the good design of banknotes and passports.  Coloured inks have been used to provide security on banknotes and passports for over 150 years.

This presentation will start by considering the history of colour in banknotes and passports.  It will explore some of challenges that designers can create when incorporating colour into their designs.  Choosing the right inks is crucial to ensure that the relationship between colour and design is maintained throughout the production process.
